Colazione italiana con marmellata di arance e limoni

Orange & Lemon Marmalade: The Blend That Outshines Single-Citrus Jams

Orange & lemon marmalade is less common than single-fruit citrus jams, yet Italian tradition has long embraced the pairing. The blend is more than a simple sum of sweet and sharp—it creates a new balance where neither orange nor lemon takes the lead.

Our extra orange & lemon marmalade is crafted from whole oranges and lemons, simmered with their peel, sugar, and nothing else. No pectin, no colourants, no preservatives. The rind of both fruits remains visible, delivering a full, fragrant citrus note.

Four ways to bring it to the table.

1. Breakfast: warm bread and mixed-citrus marmalade

The simplest pleasure. A slice of crusty homemade bread, lightly toasted, a generous spoonful of orange & lemon marmalade, perhaps a curl of fresh butter beneath. The layered citrus notes pair beautifully with black coffee or strong tea.

Winter twist: grate a little fresh orange zest on top for a double hit of citrus.

2. In a classic short-crust tart

The citrus tart is one of Italy’s freshest baked treats. Spread half a jar of orange & lemon marmalade over a disc of sweet short-crust pastry, lattice it with pastry strips, and bake at 180 °C for thirty-five minutes.

Richer version: work half a teaspoon of freshly grated lemon zest into the pastry. The pastry’s lemon amplifies the marmalade’s citrus chorus.

3. Glaze for fish and white meats

A mixed-citrus glaze is perfect for delicate fish and white meats. Warm two tablespoons of orange & lemon marmalade with a tablespoon of water. Brush it over salmon, sea bass, or sea bream during the last five minutes of cooking.

It also works wonders on chicken breast or turkey tenderloin. The sweet-acidic glaze replaces the classic squeeze of fresh lemon and leaves a glossy finish.

4. With cheese: the sweet-bitter pairing

Italy’s best matches are bold, aged cheeses: pecorino, Parmigiano, mature Taleggio. The lemon’s acidity cuts through the fat, while the orange’s sweetness softens the flavour.

Suggested board: a wedge of aged pecorino, a slice of mature Taleggio, a fresh robiola, two spoonfuls of orange & lemon marmalade on the side, whole-grain bread.

Bonus: in tea or herbal infusions

A teaspoon of marmalade stirred into a hot cup of tea or herbal infusion is a northern-European tradition that translates beautifully to the Italian table. It replaces both fresh lemon and sugar in one simple gesture.

Especially good with black teas, linden blossom tea, or lemon-balm infusions.

Choosing among our citrus marmalades

A quick guide to the three citrus marmalades in the Minnelea line.

The orange marmalade is the sweetest and most traditional. Ideal for breakfast and classic pastry work.

The lemon marmalade is the sharpest and most versatile. Excellent with cheese, in savoury dishes, and in spiced desserts.

The orange & lemon marmalade is the balanced middle path—suited to every use listed above.

Storage

Once opened, keep the jar refrigerated. It will stay perfect for four to six weeks when you use a clean spoon.
